TCM Actions: Ventilates and smoothes the Qi, clears-damp heat, harmonizes the Shaoyang, corrects the Qi dynamic and eliminates latent pathogens
Wind tea is a combination of two formulas: San Ren Tang and Xiao Chai Hu Tang. This combination comes from Dr. Jin Zhao who recognized that many modern patients come with complex and varied pattern presentations. Often, this means that there is a large diet and lifestyle component which is particular to modern peoples and leads to systemic dampness and a Qi dynamic that disordered (Spleen descends instead of ascends; stomach ascends instead of descends; lungs fail to descend to the large intestine leading to liver yang ascending without proper descending of the turbid, etc). This creates pattern presentations that are often confusing and may seem contradictory. Dr. Jin often uses this formula combination as a first line of treatment in order to begin correcting the Qi dynamic and eliminating the dampness to show a more clear patient presentation.
Currently, this combination is used ubiquitously with the modern patient population. It is often used as first line therapy to make sure the dampness is cleared and any hidden pathogens are eliminated. This presentation is amongst the most common with modern chronic diseases characterized by long history of disease with intermittent flare-ups.
